•Idowu Dosumu

An ex-convict, Idowu Dosumu, who had been jailed thrice, has confessed at a Lagos court, Southwest Nigeria that since he cannot do any other business, he decided to choose stealing as his business.

He was convicted again for the fourth time at Ejigbo Magistrate’s court by the presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M B Folami for one year with hard labour.

The 26-year old Dosumu has been going in and out of prison for the past eight years.

After serving the jail terms, he would come out and continue his stealing.

He claimed that he has tried other businesses but was more comfortable with stealing.

Two Magistrate’s courts in Ejigbo had separately convicted him in the past, yet he has remained unrepentant.

He had always pleaded guilty and got lesser jail terms for his offences.

When he was again brought to the court for stealing, the prosecutor, Mr. Oladejo Balogun informed the court that Dosumu had been a threat to the society for some years now.

He referred to his previous offences and convictions.

Balogun urged the court to give him maximum jail term so that he would remain in prison for a long time.

The court asked him why he chose stealing after he pleaded guilty and confirmed that he had committed similar offence in the past and was jailed.

He said that stealing is the only business he could do. He was found guilty as charged and sentenced to one year imprisonment with hard labour.
