Two Killed In An Auto Crash

Two teenagers were killed this afternoon while one person was seriously injured by a hit and run vehicle at the border between Ogun and Oyo state.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the incident occurred in a village called Ilupeju in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State, southwest Nigeria, barely a few weeks after at least 15 people were killed at the same spot.

The three people were on a motocycle when a vehicle knocked them down and two of the three persons died on the spot, while the third person suffered a serious injury on his leg.

The auto crash happened when the three occupants of the motorcycle were trying to ride into the high way after purchasing fuel at a filling station in the area.

Our correspondent learnt that the victims whose destinations could not be immediately ascertained ran into a speeding Prado SUV.

The unidentified driver sped off immediately he noticed that he had killed some people.

The noise that emanated after the SUV hit the three persons on the motor bike attracted villagers and passers-by who immediately went to the scene of the accident.

Investigation revealed that the two boys could have been rescued if the driver did not crushed them while he was trying to escape, while the injured was said to still be unconscious at the time our correspondent visited the area.

The corpses of the two victims who died on the spot were later deposited at the mortuary of the General Hospital in Odeda while the third victim whose legs were broken was rushed to the same hospital for treatment.

When our correspondent visited the scene this afternoon, residents of the area were seen milling around and discussing on how to locate the family of the injured person.

Efforts to get the Ogun State Police Command spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi to confirm the incident was futile as his mobile phone was switched off when our correspondent put calls across to him.

A police officer attached to Odeda Police Station confirmed the incident to our correspondent, explaining that efforts were being made to trace the families of the accident victims.
