More Support For Kiddies Tourney In Abuja

Sheraton Hotels, Abuja, Dufil Nig Limited, makers of Indomie Noodles and BigTreat Plc, have thrown their weight behind the upcoming Kiddies Golf Tourney in Abuja.

The event, which is organised by Kids Golf International, will hold from 9-14 April with children between ages 5 and 18 years competing for two days in stroke play format at the IBB Golf Club.

International players like United Kingdom’s Jordan Thompson will be attending the event. The final day of the tourney will see chosen Nigerian golfers take on international players in a Ryder Cup style. Winners of each age-group will proceed to the UK for the US Kids European Championships in June.

Managing Director of Big Treat, Mrs. Pamela Wu and 1st Vice President, Ladies Golfers Association of Nigeria, has expressed excitement about the event. She said it is good that children are encouraged to play the sport early, and expose them to international tournaments.

The event will also see the launching of the Golf Hall of Fame, where individuals and organisations will be recognised for their contributions to the development of the sport.

Important personalities like Senate President, David Mark, His Majesty, King Alfred Diete-Spiff and his Queen, Lady J, Senator John Shagaya, Retd. Gen., Haruna, Retd. Gen., Domkat Bali and former President, Ibrahim Babangida, are among the inductees.

The others are Akwa Ibom State Governor, Goodswill Akpabio, Ahlaji Awa Ibrahim, Hajia Nana Abubakar, Emma Ekong, First Lady of Cross Rivers State, Mrs. Obioma Imoke, Pamela Wu, Otunba Olusola Adekanla, Ambassador Solomon Adama Yisa, and Director of Tourism Olusegun Runsewe. Organisations like MTN Nigeria, Central Bank of Nigeria, First Bank of Nigeria and Shell Nigeria Plc are listed among the inductees.
