Swagger Meets Fans

Recently, former World champ Jack Swagger shook hands and chatted with fans at the Miami Kmart, in the Central Shopping Center.

Daniel Gaitan, 8, waited nervously to meet his first wrestler ever. “I’m thinking of what to say to Jack,” said Daniel.

More than 100 fans lined up between aisles to greet the All-American. Prior to sitting down and signing autographs, he greeted fans in line, posing for photos.

Eliz Rojas, 14, said he looked forward to saluting his second favorite wrestler. “This is cool and awesome; I can’t wait,” he said.

At the event, fans entered their name in a drawing for a chance to win WrestleMania 28 tickets. WWE’s big show is on Sunday, 1 April, at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens.

Wearing a Colt Cabana wrestling shirt, longtime fan Felix Maymi, 29, said he has followed Swagger’s career.

“He is tall and lanky,” he said. “It’s cool to watch him grow.” Skylar Hartz, 11, sat on a reclining camp chair he borrowed from another aisle from the store. He waited for Swagger for more than an hour.

“I met Jack at a Florida Championship Wrestling show in Punta Gorda, Florida,” he said. “I waited three hours before, and now I am here to show him support.”

Meeting the former champ is just the tip of the iceberg for Maymi, who plans on attending ‘Mania along with other shows in South Florida. It will be his third WrestleMania.

“It’s great because I don’t have to spend on hotels, and I can do so much,” he said. “I am going to Ring of Honor, Luchafest, I’m going everywhere.”

In regards to the main event between The Rock and John Cena, he said: “I think this will be like the Hogan and Rock match [WrestleMania 18]. It’s like a passing the torch thing. This WrestleMania is going to be hard to top.”
