Chairman of Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi, Dominic Iorfa, has shed more light on the reason the management of the club opts to use the Emma Akume Atongo Stadium in Kastina-Ala as their home ground.

In a chat with P.M.Sports last Sunday after the Suswan Boys’ defeated Dolphins Football Club of Port Harcourt 2-0, Iorfa said playing on natural grass is good for football.

“We are using this stadium as our home ground because we want our players to enjoy good football by playing on a natural turf. We prefer it to Astro turf despite the fact that all the away matches that we have played this season took place on artificial turf,” said Iofa.

The former Lobi Stars player said that the management of Lobi is doing its best to make sure that the turf is in perfect condition.

“We ensure that we water the grass about 12 times a day because we are in the dry season. We assure Nigerians that the turf will be in perfect condition for good football within two months,” said the former Super Eagles player.

Meanwhile, Iorfa has praised the match officials, led by John Amuzie from Anambra State for what he called good officiating during Sunday’s match.

“I have no complain about the match officials because the officiating of the match was perfect. The referee gave both teams a level-playing field to express themselves, and the better team won,” said the former Nigera Football Federation, NFF, board member.
