Online Firm To Promote Nigerian Business Abroad

A United States-based Nigerian-owned online firm, Afromedia, is using its platform to promote Nigerian businesses in the US market.

The Managing Director/CEO, Net Video Media, parent company of Afromedia, Akin Akanji, who disclosed this to journalists in Lagos, said the company sold services and video content to the black communities in the US, especially Nigerians in the Disapora.

Akanji explained that the major goal of his company was to portray Nigeria and Nigerians in a positive light.

“With this in mind, we would be focusing on the Nigerian hospitality industry with the aim of using its robust online platform to advertise their products and services in the US market”.

Akanji also explained that the online portal, which was set up in 2010, went live in the second quarter of 2011,and had now attracted over 30,000 subcribers; adding that the platform targeted over 80,000 subscribers by the end of 2012.

According to him, the company hopes to leverage its growing subscriber base to build an audience for Nigerian hospitality companies and it will be advertising in due course.

He said: “We want the hospitality industry in Nigeria to be aware that we exist. That is why we are providing advertsising platforms for companies in Nigeria for the black and Nigeian communities in the US. We have over 30,000 subscribers and that means you can advertise your products to 30,000 subscribers in the US,” he added.
