Nigeria Target Olympic Tickets At World T/Tennis Tourney

As LIEBHERR 2012 World Team Table Tennis Championship strokes off Sunday in Germany, Nigerian male and female players are targeting tickets to represent the country at the Summer Olympics slated for June in London.

The Nigerian teams are playing in the 2nd Division of the championship, holding in Dortmund from 25 March – 1 April.

The male team are competing in Group E alongside Romania, Indian, Canada, Finland and Norway, while their female compatriots are also in Group E. They will play against Italy, England, Israel and Estonia.

P.M.Sports gathered from Germany, venue of the championship today, that the Nigerian male team, which parade Commonwealth Games gold medalist, Segun Toriola, Haruna Quadri, Abiodun Bode, Seun Ajetunmobi and Lukmon Ojo, will play their first game against Norway.

The Nigerians will then take on Indian, play their third game against Romania before completing their fixtures with Finland and Canada.

The players flying Nigeria’s colours in the female category are: Olufunke Oshonaike, Offiong Edem, Cecilia Otu- Akpan, Janet Effiom and Halima Hussein.

Meanwhile, the quartet of Segun Toriola, Aruna Quadri, Funke Oshonaike and Offiong Edem have already secured their places in the singles event of the Olympics.
