Whereabouts Of Abducted Senator's Wife Unkwown

Five days after the kidnap of Mrs. Asime Sekibo, the wife of Senator George Thompson Sekibo, of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), representing Rivers East Senatorial district , no one knows her whereabouts.

The woman, a student at the University of Port Harcourt, UNIPORT, was kidnapped after receiving lectures and was on her way home on Thursday last week at Obiri Ikwerre, along the University of Port Harcourt East-West road, Port Harcourt, southsouth Nigeria.

P.M.NEWS learnt from sources close to the Senator’s family this morning that the kidnappers have reached out to the Senator demanding an undisclosed amount running into millions of naira.

It has been a big challenge getting across to the Senator to react to the position of some security sources who suspect the boys the Senator used to actualise his dream of winning the re-run election after his earlier victory was annulled by the Court of Appeal led by Justice Mohammed Dattijo, on December 7, 2011.

The Rivers Police Command spokesman, Ben Ugwuegbulam, said the command was not aware of any ransom demand by the abductors of the Senator’s wife, but assured that the Command is working tirelessly to track down the abductors and rescue the woman.
