Ekiti NULGE Chairman, 4 Others Die In Auto Crash

A ghastly motor accident yesterday claimed the lives of Ekiti State chairman of National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Ayo Afolalu and four other officials of the union in Benin City.

The victims were delegates to the 2nd Special National Delegates conference of NULGE, holding in Benin City.

Eyewitnesses account had it that the accident occurred at the Benin/Akure express road by NIFOR junction when the Honda Accord, popularly known as End of Discussion car in which they were travelling collided with an oncoming timber lorry while trying to avoid a faulty car parked on his lane.

The five occupants of the vehicle died on the spot.

Tears flowed freely at Excalibur Hotel venue of the conference when news of the accident reached other delegates.

National chairman of NULGE, Comrade Ibrahim Khalee had to shift the opening session of the conference from 11.00a.m. to 2.00p.m. in honour of their dead colleagues.

Zonal Commander, Federal Road Safety Commission, Mr. Yakubu Attah who confirmed the accident and the death of the five men, said the command was yet to get full details about the accident.
