“I must commend the Premier League and the British Council for this wonderful idea. I believe this programme will go a long way in developing football in Nigeria.

He said: “Like an Oliver Twist I will be asking the British Council to facilitate such an initiative to support the already existing programmes in Lagos State. We have a football brand in Lagos, which is ‘EkoFootball’ and we have a lot of developmental programmes such as ‘Let the Children Play’ which is a programme for 8-13 year old school children.”

The first phase of the Premier Skills initiative involving 48 local coaches came to an end on Tuesday.
