Football Development: Lagos FA Wants EPL’s Support

The Lagos State Football Association (LSFA), Chairman, Seyi Akinwunmi, has charged the officials of the English Premier League and the British Council to lend their support for the state’s football development programme.

Speaking in Lagos at the launch of Premier Skills Nigeria held at the Legacy Pitch, Surulere, Lagos, Akinwunmi noted that the initiative will help players and the coaches in Nigeria to realise their dreams in the game.

“I must commend the Premier League and the British Council for this wonderful idea. I believe this programme will go a long way in developing football in Nigeria.

He said: “Like an Oliver Twist I will be asking the British Council to facilitate such an initiative to support the already existing programmes in Lagos State. We have a football brand in Lagos,which is ‘EkoFootball’ and we have a lot of developmental programmes such as ‘Let the Children Play’ which is a programme for 8-13 year old school children.”

The first phase of the Premier Skills initiative involving 48 local coaches came to an end on Tuesday.
