Prophet Babawole Shitta of St. Theresa’s Church of Christ (Cherubim and Seraphim), Mushin, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, has urged the Federal Government to arrange a meeting of religious and opinion leaders, especially in the areas where the Islamic fundamentalist group, Boko Haram, has continued to wreak havoc.
Lamenting the embarrassment and grief the group had caused the nation in recent times, the cleric wondered why some people would take delight in shedding fellow human’ blood all in the name of religion.
Shitta noted that the spate of killings and maiming by the Islamic group called for concern from both the society and the government.
The cleric, while addressing a press conference in Lagos, also commented on the recent face off between Nigeria and South Africa and commended governments of both countries on the way the matter was resolved.
While congratulating Christians for witnessing another Lenten period, he urged them to move closer to God, adding that for Nigeria to be great, its citizens should be ready to make sacrifices.
