NDLEA Discovers Indian Hemp Warehouse In Ota
The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has discovered an Indian hemp warehouse in Ota, Ogun.
The NDLEA Director in the state, Mr Mohammed Mohammed, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abeokuta, that 182 bags of the substance, weighing 1,120 kilogrammes were discovered in the ware house.
He said a middle aged man, Abiodun Salawu, was arrested in connection with the case.
Mohammed said officials of the command had placed the suspect under constant surveillance for over three weeks before his eventual arrest.
He attributed the breakthrough to the consistency and resilience of his men, adding that the command would do all within its powers to rid the state off illicit drugs.
“We needed to gather some intelligence information before we embark on the raid, so it took us some time, but it is important so long as we achieve our aim.
“After series of efforts, we are able to make arrest and seizure of 182 neatly concealed bags of the illicit drugs which weigh 1,120 kilogrammes.”
The director, who described the seizure as a morale booster to his men, estimated the market value of the Indian hemp at over N5 million.
He said that the command would intensify efforts “to make the state uncomfortable for drug traffickers and hawkers”, and solicited the cooperation and support of the people to ensure collective war on illicit drugs.
