Tinubu, A Glowing Light For Nigeria —Lawmaker

Former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been described as a visionary leader who will continue to set standards for good governance in the country.

A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Eti-Osa Constituency 2, Gbolahan Yishawu, stated this while paying tribute to Asiwaju Tinubu on his 60th birthday.

At a news conference in his office at the Assembly complex, Alausa, Ikeja, Yishawu noted that Tinubu’s life was significant in the nation’s history because of his outstanding leadership qualities and commitment to democratic principles.

The lawmaker recalled the role played by Tinubu during the struggle to actualise the June 12, 1993, mandate of the late Chief Moshood Abiola.

He said since then, the national leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), had fought for the return of the country to democratic rule.

“His rare courage to confront the military by standing firm with other democracy activists during the military days proved that Tinubu is a true democrat ready to commit even his means towards the entrenchment of good governance,” Yishawu said.

He attributed the widely acclaimed people-oriented governance in Lagos State to the pace-setting qualities of the former governor who, according the lawmaker, set enviable standards, groomed and ensured the enthronement of people with love for the masses in government even after he had left public office.

While describing Tinubu as a politician worthy of emulation, Yishawu said, “progressive elements are proud of Tinubu especially because of his sterling efforts to spread good governance to every part of the country and particularly in the states where ACN is delivering good governance.”

Yishawu prayed that God would grant Tinubu many more years in his service to the people as the leader of a party with clear vision for the development of the society.
