All is now set for the 6th Annual Synod of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Diocese of Lagos West. The three-day event coming up at Methodist Cathedral, Palm Avenue, Mushin, Lagos, will start today, 29 March with the Ministerial and Lay Sessions.
The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN is expected to declare the synod open during the opening ceremony on Friday, 30 March, while the Synod programme will be rounded off with a thanksgiving service on Sunday, 1 April at the same venue during the 10.00am service.
The theme for this year’s Synod, “Behold, I will do a new thing” has been prayerfully selected to reassure the citizenry on a great turn around that God will do concerning this nation, Nigeria. According to the Chief Host of the Synod, the Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Revd. Isaac Ayo Olawuyi, “the promise of God to us as a nation and the whole world in general is to bring a total stoppage to all the calamities in our land, all natural disasters and self destructions around us and ultimately turn all our challenges to opportunities with the new things that God will do in our lives as his beloved children.”
The Methodist Church Nigeria, Lagos West Diocese was adjudged the best diocese out of the 56 dioceses in the whole Methodist Church Nigeria at the 42nd and 7th Biennial Conference that took place at Methodist Theological Institute, Mission Hill, Umahia, Abia State in 2010.
This year’s Synod which is the 6th edition in the history of the young diocese is expected to attract notable personalities within and outside the Methodist family to be led by His Eminence, Dr. Sunday Ola Makinde, Prelate, Methodist Church Nigeria amongst others.
