PCRC Honours Oba Akiolu, Ikuforiji, Others

The Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, Lion Building, Lagos Island is set to honour the Oba Rilwan Akiolu of Lagos, Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola of Lagos State, Speaker, House of Assembly, Adeyemi Ikuforiji and others at a Merit Award ceremony which comes up on 8 May at the City Hall, Lagos Island.

Chairman of the PCRC and former Vice Chairman of Lagos Island, Mr. Gbolahan Adepegba Savage, told P.M.NEWS that the award ceremony will be the first of its kind on Lagos Island.

He said the committee wants to honour those who have contributed to the upliftment and security of Lagos State in the last few years.

He added that the award ceremony is part of programmes lined up by PCRC to encourage those who have been supporting the association.

“We are doing this to thank corporate bodies, individuals, groups and associations that have helped us materially and financially in our course of duty,” he said.

Some of those to be honoured include, the DPO, Lion Building Division, Adaku Uche Anya and Chairman of Lagos Island East, Kamal Olawale Salau Bashua and Alhaji Shitu Adeleke who is the life patron of the body, among others.

Commenting on the achievements of the PCRC in the last 28 years, Savage said the committee has donated five buses and a big generator to the Lion Building. He said they had intervened in many social problems on Lagos Island.

“Our primary duties are to maintain peace and order on Lagos Island, so we urge our youth to desist from social vices that can threaten the peace of Lagos Island, “he said.
