Malam Ibrahim Sokoto a.k.a. MC Kirikiri, Kolade Onanuga a.k.a. K2 the Future, and Seun Aransiola put up a spectacular performance at the 50th birthday anniversary of Mrs Toyin Olamide Onanuga, wife of the Managing Director of TheNEWS and P.M.NEWS held at the EKO FM Multi-Purpose Hall on Wednesday, 28 March 2012.
The event, which started in the afternoon with a thanksgiving service was rounded off with a reception party at the same venue.
The anchor person for the event MC Kirikiri reeled out jokes to the amusement of distinguished guests.
An Afrobeat band named Fela’s was the first to entertain guests, while performing the band gave a good account of itself by playing lots of the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s oldies like Water, Zombie and others.
After the initial musical interlude by Gospel singer Seun Aransiola, Kolade Onanuga the fast rising fuji star who is also from the Onanuga family, mounted the stage to honour the woman popularly called Aunty Toyin.
Seun took over from him and it was dance, dance, dance all through.
But the most important and touchy aspect of the programme was when Mr Onanuga was asked to talk about his wife. The head of TheNEWS group went into the archives of the late Alhaji Haruna Ishola a.k.a. Baba Ngani Agba to sing the popular song ‘ti obirin badara tio tu ni iwa mole fi 1000, fe, ti obirin badara tio ni wa toba gba kobo kan abo mi ole fe’, meaning, if a woman is pretty and is of good character I can spend any amount to marry her,but if she is pretty and is of bad character I cannot spend a penny on her.
He eulogised his wife by saying that she is a woman in millions and somebody who stood by him in trying periods.
