Meanwhile, the governor has advised students of tertiary institutions to be peaceful while exercising their constitutional right to protest.

Amosun made this call while addressing members of the National Association of Ogun State Students, NAOSS, who came to the secretariat to demand among others, payment of bursary which had not been paid for the past four years and a bus for their association.

The governor regretted the unruly behaviour of the students, saying, “the constitution only guarantees right to peaceful protests. You have the right to protest but that must be exercised within the ambit of the law. That is the prescription of the constitution. Your conduct today is over the top and I advise this must never repeat itself.”

Amosun urged the students, who later apologised for their unruly conduct, not to allow themselves to be used but rather reciprocate the good gestures of the present administration which among others restored regular payment of subventions to all public owned institutions and salaries of workers.

He promised to look into their demands get back to them soonest.
