Security was beefed up this morning around the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, building located around Central Area of Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory.
P.M.NEWS learnt that security operatives were apprehensive of an alleged bomb attack by people suspected to be members of Boko Haram Islamic sect.
Security agents therefore cordoned off the building from about 200 metres away. They subjected every motorists in the area to thorough security checks.
The police stormed the area with bomb-sniffing dogs which they used to carry out search on every vehicle in the adjoining roads.
Because of the intensive search for bomb, traffic around the NNPC area in Abuja was chaotic while all the roads leading to the NNPC building witnessed heavy traffic gridlock.
Although no bombs have been found or any arrest made, the frantic search continued as at press time.
