Egypt Cancel Friendly With Nigeria
The proposed international friendly match involving the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Pharaohs of Egypt earlier scheduled for 12 April in Abu Dhabi, has been called off. It would now hold at a date to be decided later.
Coach Diaa Al Sayed of Egypt disclosed this afternoon that they had to call off the game due to a sponsorship glitch forcing them to fold their UAE camp.
Al Sayed told SuperSport that they had received the letter yesterday from the UAE Football Federation, advising them of the latest development and were now fighting to secure another sponsor.
Al Sayed stated further ‘Since we don’t know if the new camp will be in the UAE or not, we certainly can’t etch any games, especially that against the Super Eagles, in stone and have to cancel.”
The Coach also relayed that Egypt would try and reschedule the game as they really looked forward to playing Stephen Keshi new look Eagles, whom they now ranked among Africa’s most improved teams. “We like Nigeria because they are local,” he added.
Next, Egypt had hoped to face Angola but that too may now be in jeopardy.
Meanwhile, General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Musa Amadu said they are yet to be officially informed of the latest development.
