The Oba of Oworonshoki in Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, Oba Oloruntoyin Bashiru Saliu has been summoned to the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Abuja over alleged threat to life and malicious damage.

A letter dated 21 March, 2012 signed by the Principal Staff Officer IP (PSOII) to be Inspector-General of Police (IGP) was addressed to the Assistant Commissioner of Police, I. G. Monitoring Unit, Abuja who was directed to act on the complaint of Alhaji Mustapha Ajisegiri.

Barrister Boyede Ogun, solicitor to the complainant, had initially written a petition to the IGP alleging threat to the life of his client, Alhaji Ajisegiri by the Oba and his associates and as well levelled an allegation of unlawful detention of his client by two police officers at Zone II Police Command, Onikan, Lagos and the Commander of Mopol 43 who allegedly bought a land in dispute in Oworonshoki.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police, I. G. Monitoring Unit, was said to have delegated Inspector Lasisi and Kolade Fasola who have summoned the Oba of Oworonshoki, Oba Saliu, his three sons namely, Idris, Kabiru and Tunde, Animashaun Quadri, Suraju Lasisi and three police officers: SP. Okuribido Samuel, SP. Gbenga Stephens and ACP Akinremi David to Abuja over the allegations.

The Oba and others were also alleged to have forcefully taken over a land which Alhaji Ajisegiri had sold to a late female juju musician, Oladunni Odugunwa a.k.a. Decency about 35 years ago, when the community leader was unlawfully detained by the police at Zone II, Onikan, Lagos.

The solicitor further alleged that the culprits resold the land in dispute to one police officer, Samuel Okuribido, a Suprintendent of Police said to be the Commander of Mopol 43, who in return refused to stop work on the land as directed by the police at the Lagos Headquarters Annex, Kam Salem House. The Oba had earlier denied the allegations in a chat with P.M.NEWS.
