Mob Kills Two Robbers, After They Gunned Down A Lady

A mob at Naibawa Quarters of Kano, northwest Nigeria, Monday foiled attempts by a two-man robbery gang to escape after gunning down a lady.

Police authorities confirmed the robbers dead at a hospital after sustaining first degree injuries from mob action.

According to a statement issued by the Kano Command Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP Musa Magaji Majiya Tuesday evening, two members of a robbery gang struck at Yan-Lemo market in Naibawa Quarters and shot dead a woman.

According to him, one of the robbery suspects died in the hospital during treatment while the other died before getting to the hospital.

Weapons recovered from the robbery gang include one AK47 rifle, 12 rounds of live ammunition and one Barretta pistol.

“On April 2, 2012 at about 1300hrs., 2 suspected armed robbers shot a woman at Yan-Lemu market, Naibawa. They were pursued and caught by the mob who attempted to lynch them, but for the intervention of good Samaritans who alerted the police.

“One of them died before arriving the hospital while the other died during treatment. Another victim is receiving treatment while investigation into the incident is in progress,” he said.
