Asaba Tourney Helps Young Karatekas —Kurumeh

Head Coach of the Golden Martial Art Academy, Lagos, Henry Kurumeh, says the forthcoming U-17 Karate Championship billed to hold from 10-15 April in Asaba, Delta State, will be an eye-opener for upcoming karatekas.

Speaking with P.M.Sports, the coach revealed that the tourney, which will also include courses and seminars on karate, will enable the young karatekas to learn new methods in the sport.

“The championship is expected to be an eye-opener for young karatekas. And I hope they will make use of the opportunity given to them, considering the fact that most of them will be attending a championship of this magnitude for the first time,” said Kurumeh.

He said: “The karatekas will also have the opportunity to attend courses and seminars on karate, aside from participating in the championship. This will enable them to learn more on the technical aspects of the sport.”

Kurumeh said that the Golden Martial Art Academy will sponsor its karatekas to the championship, adding that the event is a must for all upcoming karatekas that want to make their mark in the sport.

“Our academy will mobilise our karatekas to Asaba for the championship because the event will be an opportunity for them to rub shoulders with their counterparts in other states of the federation. We have been waiting for this kind of programme for a long time and we won’t allow the opportunity to pass us by.

“The young lads are very excited about the tourney. They are working very hard for the competition, knowing how it will help them in their chosen careers,” Kurumeh added.
