G-Class Tweaked Up For 2013
It’s widely speculated that spy shots and leaked images of forthcoming models that land up on the web before they’re supposed to are actually the work of the car manufacturers in question just trying to rack up some more publicity.
Yet this time Mercedes-Benz was blatant and sneaky at the same time, when it came to giving us a sneak peek at the next G-Class 4×4, an old-fashioned beast that’s regarded as the ultimate bundu basher.
The company actually parked a facelifted 2013 G-Class in the background in a press picture of the new compact GLK. Of course, there is no other official information to work with at this stage, but the picture does show us that the revised off-roader gets treated to a modern-age fad in the form of LED daytime running lights placed beneath the headlights. The G-Class also receives new wing mirrors.
More than just minor exterior tweaks are on the cards though, as recent spy shots of the upcoming G-Class also show a new interior, complete with modern-looking centre consoles and a new steering wheel. It is, however, rumoured that the G55’s 373kW 5.5-litre supercharged V8 will be replaced by the very latest twin-turbo 5.4-litre V8, with around 390kW on tap.
