Heartland players have attributed the defeat suffered in the hands of Sharks in Calabar at the weekend to the fact that they play too many matches, which is not good for their players.

Heartland lost a penalty in that game through Barthlomew Ibenegbu in the 88th minute after Sharks had gone ahead through Gomo Onduku’s goal which they held on to for a massive away victory.

Speaking through their media officer, Cajetan Nkwaopara, said that fatigue really affected them against the Port Harcourt side.

“The players could not really hold their own against Sharks. Although they gave their best, it was not good enough,” said Nkwaopara.

“But most times, playing so many matches tend to affect and that is exactly what happened in Calabar last weekend.

“We have forgotten about the game and are looking forward to subsequent matches especially the second leg CAF Confederation Cup] game against US Nkam of Cameroon” Nkwopara said.
