I Want To Win Trophy For Interclube

Angolan side Interclube host visiting Madagascan team, Tana, which are looking to overcome a 2-0 deficit from the first leg played two weeks ago in Antananarivo in the Orange CAF Confederation Cup Round of 16. In an interview with CAFONLINE.COM, Interclube midfielder George Messi said the team is well prepared to overcome the Tana on Sunday and advance to the next phase

What is the general feeling in the team ahead of this crucial match?

We were able to overcome many difficulties before we get where we are now. The Tana is a good team, but at Interclube we are playing some of the best football at present and we believe this team can go far in this competition. We want to win this match and go for our target, which is to win this competition.

What is the morale like in your camp after the Wednesday game in the local league?

The game on Wednesday served as a good preparation for the difficult challenge we have this weekend. Our team is becoming more of a united and cohesive group with each match we play, and this is important for any side that wants to win African interclub competition titles.

As a player at Interclube do you at times think about playing in Europe and will you play for Cameroon national team again.?

I feel good in Angola and I’m happy at Interclube. We are all a close neat family here, and that is something that money cannot buy. As for my return to the Indomable Lions side , I think my time with the national team is over. When l look at players from my generation like Womé and Etoo and others who were with me when we won gold at the Sydney 2000 Olympics l know that I have already play my part and it is time for me to dedicate playing career to Interclube only.

What is your goal in this competition?

I want to win the Confederation Cup with Interclube. Our goal now is to reach the group stage and proceed to the final and win it. It will be wonderful to do so and bring to the fore Angolan football.

You were defeated in Madagascar. Did that discourage the players?

No, because we are mentally strong. Let’s get over it. We believe we are able to win this weekend ‘s return fixture and go through to the next round of the competition , so we are focused and not discouraged.

What is Interclube’s target in this competition this year?

After reaching the semi-finals in 2011, we now want to go further and make it to the final and win this competition, that is our target.
