Scrabble Body Set For Abuja Tourney

Nigeria Scrabble Federation, NSF, is set to welcome all its players across the country for this year’s National Scrabble championship that will hold this weekend in Abuja.

The annual tourney starts from tomorrow, 6-9 April, 2012, and all the participating players are expected to start arriving the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, venue of the tourney, today.

The NSF General Secretary, James Eakyns, who is already at the venue, said that all arrangements have been made to ensure a hitch-free tourney.

The federation scribe said: “ I can confirm to you that this year’s edition of the national championship will be devoid of any rancour.We have made sure that all the materials needed for a successful hosting of the tourney have been put in place.”

He stressed that “this is a very important tourney for our federation and we are not going to toy with it as it will produce some of the players that will represent the country at international competitions.”

Eta Karo of Delta State is the defending champion of the tourney.

Commenting on the championship after he won the Kwete tourney held in Adamawa State recently, Karo said he is not ready to lose his title yet.
