3SC Outshine Enyimba In NPL Game

A superb free kick on target from Mutiu Adegoke in the 83rd minute was all that Shooting Stars Sports Club, 3SC of Ibadan needed to defeat Enyimba Football Club of Aba in a week 19 match of Nigeria Premier League, NPL on Saturday.

The match, played this afternoon at the Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan in Oyo State, kept the home fans on the edge of their seats for greater part of the proceedings.

The goal came when 3SC fans had lost hope in the Oluyole Warriors. The home side had many chances but failed to convert them both in the first half and early part of the second half.

Although the visiting team who came to Ibadan with a grand plan to snatch a point, created more chances than the home team but could not hit target.
Even, Gbolahan Salami, a former 3SC player, who was playing his first game against Shooting since he left Ibadan last season, missed several chances that would have helped the People’s Elephant.

Having lost their last game 3-2 to Rangers International of Enugu, 3SC Knew that playing a draw against Enyimba will be a huge disappointment for their fans, who came out in their thousands to cheer the club to victory.

The Ibadan team would have scored earlier when Owolabi Raheem was brought down in the box in the 76th minute, but centre referee Hamza Garba from Kano, overlooked it.

His decision angered the home fans who reacted angrily from the stands.

3SC began to dominate the game from that moment till when Adegoke’s free kick nailed the coffin of his former club from Aba.

Adegoke, who once played for Enyimba told P.M.Sports that he dedicated the goal to his teammates because they worked hard to get the maximum points in today’s encounter.
