Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly, Adeyemi Ikuforiji, has sent warm felicitations to all Nigerian Christians on the occasion of this year’s Easter celebration just as he urged them to continue to pray for a better Nigeria.

While praying that they would witness many more Easter seasons in their lifetime, he advised them to keep the country in mind especially at this critical time of her challenges.

According to Ikuforiji, “As you all wine and dance in the course of the on-going celebration, I appeal to you all to continue to pray fervently for our great country, Nigeria, particularly at this time of general insecurity in the country.

“Since you all are strong believers in the fact that ‘prayer is the master key ‘ in all our endeavours, I urge you all to keep praying ceaselessly for our country day and night so that it may be well with us all, and also with our country.”

In a press release by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Rotimi Adebayo, Ikuforiji said he was sending his Easter wishes on behalf of his family and the entire 39 other lawmakers of the Assembly and “that represent all the good people of Lagos state.”

He reminded the Christians in the state and the country to see the resurrection of Jesus Christ three days after He was crucified on the Cross at Calvary as an opportunity to live lives of love and peace.

“It is a source of great joy to us here at your House of Assembly, therefore, that you have successfully fasted in the last 40 days, which is particularly of importance that you have, through the period of the Lenten season, symbolically suffered with the Risen Christ, whilst it lasted.

“We also pray here that the Almighty God accedes to all that you have been believing the Lord for, whilst the Lenten season lasted,” he prayed.

He also commended Nigerian Christians for always living in peace and harmony with their non-Christian neighbours all over the country.

“On this joyous occasion therefore, let me once again say happy Easter season to you all. Thank you all and God bless,” the statement concluded.
