Eguavoen said he was disappointed that his team lacked tactical discipline to curtail their opponents when they clashed over the weekend in a Week 19 game in the Nigeria Premier League.

Former Super Eagles defender, Mutiu Adegoke scored in the 83rd minute to send 3SC fans into wild jubilation at the Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan in Oyo State.

Eguaveon, who spoke to P.M.Sports shortly after the match, described their defeat as a temporary setback for his team in the league, saying that they would have preferred the tie ending in a draw. He admitted that pressure was on the team following the 1-1 draw they played with Akwa United in Aba before the 3SC game.

“We came to Ibadan to win or at least to pick a point, but it was unfortunate that we lost the game towards the end of the game,” said Eguaveon who commended the home team’s spirit for their performance.

In his submission, Enyimba Chief Coach Abdul Mekaba said both teams played purposeful football, but blamed his team for conceding the last minute goal.

“It was a good match because both teams played good football. I want to congratulate 3SC for their victory over us,” he said.
