Brave Lady Arrests Gunman

A lady phone operator in Ikorodu area of Lagos State, (name withheld) last Monday displayed a rare bravery when she arrested a gun troting cultist who attempted to rob her of her recharge cards worth N200,000.

Crime Watch investigation revealed that the suspect, Yusuf Ayoola Olorunwa, 22, armed with a locally-made cut to size single barrel gun went in company with Abiodun Fatola, 24, pretended they wanted to buy recharge cards from the lady. But while she was attending to them, Yusuf suddenly pulled off his gun and attempted to shoot the lady if she failed to surrender all her recharge cards or make any noise.

Initially, the lady pretended to be cooperating with the gun man. But suddenly, she summoned the courage, grabbed the assilants with his gun and raised the alarm. Yusuf’s accomplice, Abiodun Fatola immediately took to his heels.

Neighbours and passers by assisted the lady to apprehend Yusuf who was handed to policemen at Ikorodu Division. They later arrested his comrade-in-crime, Abiodun Fatola in company with Adekoya Kehinde at their Ogijo hide-out near Ikorodu.

The three suspects were later transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS led by SP Abba Kyari for further interrogation.

At SARS, the three suspects confessed to the police that they are cultists who belong to Eiye Confraternity and that they have been terrorising the people of Ikorodu and environs for some time.

They claimed to be area boys who extort money from innocent members of the public and whatever they made from the people, was shared between the three of them.

Sources at SARS told our Correspondent that the three suspected cultists will be charged to court very soon at the end of their investigation.
