Ex-Female Cop Sent To Kirikiri Over N7m Theft

A former police officer, Angela Olisakwe alias Angela Okeke, 33, has been arrested and arraigned by Force Criminal Investigation Department, Force Headquarters Annex, Alagbon, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria for stealing.

She was alleged to have escaped after stealing N7.1 million belonging to Police Cooperative Society store at Okota, Isolo, Lagos and escaped.

The police prosecution alleged in charge No. E/13/12 that the accused sometime in 2010 in Lagos did with intent to defraud, forge a cash receipt with a value of N7.182,400, belonging to Nigeria Police Cooperative Society Ltd. to offset her lawful debt.

The offences, according to the police prosecutor, DSP Odion Akhaine, are contrary to Section 283 and punishable under Section 285 and 361 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and the presiding Chief Magistrate Mrs. M. O. A. Ogunsanya granted her bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties who must show proof of tax payment to the Lagos State government with six months bank statement.

She adjourned the matter till 9 May 2012 for mention.

The defendant was moved to Kirikiri Prison when she could not perfect her bail condition before the court closed for the day.
