First Inter-Club Shooting Tourney Begins Today

The Rowe Park Shooting Range, Yaba, Lagos came alive today as the 1st Lagos State Inter-Club Shooting Championship began and will run till Wednesday.

The event is sponsored by Lagos State government and organised by the Lagos State Shooting Association to enable shooters to compete with their counterparts at the national and international levels.

Ten Shooting Clubs across the state are expected to participate in the competition. Eight events (male and female) would be competed for in both Air Rifle and Air Pistol categories. Prices would be given to individuals and team winners.

The Lagos State Shooting team have brought glory and fame to the state in past National Sports Festivals through the winning of laurels. The team have participated in National Sports Festivals, which include Imo 98 where it won five Gold, two Silver and three Bronze medals. At the Bauchi 2000 National Sports Festival, they won five Gold, four Silver and four bronze; Edo 2002, five Gold, four Silver and three bronze, Abuja 2004, three Gold, four Silver and five Bronze. Gateway Ogun 2006, two Gold, five Silver and five Bronze medals respectively.
