Worker Sets Colleague Ablaze Over N500
A man unleashed his anger on his co-worker for withholding his N500 after work. He fetched some petrol and set him blaze.
He was charged before Apapa Magistrate’s Court and was later remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.
The 28-year old Audu Musa, who works at Marine Beach, Apapa, was alleged to have demanded his money from Shina Bayo several times, but Bayo refused to give him.
P.M.NEWS gathered that he warned that Bayo will not eat from his sweat and threatened to deal with him if he refused to pay the money.
On the day the incident happened, Musa reportedly ambushed Bayo at Marine Beach Bridge in Apapa and poured some petrol he had in a keg on him, lit a match and set him ablaze.
Bayo was severely burnt before he was rushed to a hospital.
Musa who was on the run was later arrested by the police and charged before the court.
The offence, the prosecutor said, is contrary to Sections 56 and 243 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.
He pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A. K. Shonubi, granted Musa bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum. The matter has been adjourned till 26 April, 2012.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will meet the bail conditions.
