NLC Threatens Strike In Imo

The Imo chapter of the NLC has threatened to embark on strike over the decision of the state government to deploy civil servants to form “the fourth tier government. ”

Governor Rochas Okorocha had insisted that he would deploy civil servants to autonomous communities to form the newly-introduced fourth tier government in the communities.

Okorocha explained that civil servants would help traditional rulers in the implementation of government policies in the communities.

The state Chairman of NLC, Mr. Reginald Anyadike, who issued the threat in Owerri on Tuesday, while addressing newsmen during a rally, said that the planned deployment was against civil service rules.

“The plan to deploy workers to the domain of traditional rulers is against the civil service rules,” he said.

He threatened that workers in the state would embark on an indefinite strike if the governor implement the decision.
