Fashola Calls For Closer Ties Between Church, Govt

Lagos State governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), has advocated for better relationship between the church and leaders in authority.

While applauding the continued cooperation and assistance by religious groups across the state, Fashola noted that what should be the primary concern of Christian bodies like Organisation of African Instituted Churches, OAIC, should be the sacred deposit of Christian doctrine guarded by exchange of good ideas and teachings in interactions with fellow human beings irrespective of their religious beliefs.

There remarks were contained in an address read on behalf of the governor by the Senior Special Adviser on Christian Religious Matters, Rev. (Mrs.) Funmilayo Akitoye-Braimoh, at the 21st anniversary of the Lagos State branch of OAIC, at the Chapel of Christ the Light Church, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, recently.

Speaking at the occasion, Chairman of the organisation, Special Senior Apostle (Dr.) Kola Onanuga, reiterated the need for Christians, Muslims and other religions’ faithful to genuinely translate their religious belief into action that will serve as antidote to crime and other vices as presently witnessed through the activities of Boko Haram Islamic sect in the country.
