After Young Stars Football Club lost 0-2 to defending Champions, First Bank, in the Round of 16 of the Lagos State Challenge Cup played on Tuesday at the Agege Stadium, their coach, Hyginus Okoye, spoke with Grassroots Soccer Guide about their performance.

How will you react to the defeat your team suffered in the hands of First Bank?

It was not a good result for us at all. Our players created many chances but were shy in front of goal, which caused our exit in the Lagos FA Cup.

Your team did not go far this season?

Yes, that’s why I’m disappointed. Our ambition was to go beyond the quarter final we got to in the last edition. But if you look at the team that defeated us, you will agree with me that we lost to a better side.

What contributed to your defeat?

Our team did not convert the chances they created in the first half. We also gave First Bank too much respect which led to our defeat.
