Cole Ready To Battle Savage

In a bid to boost his chances of getting a title shot, Nigeria’s Welterweight title prospect, Gift Cole, has vowed to defeat his American opponent, Dion Savage, when the two boxers clash on 5 May in Las Vegas.

The South Africa-based boxer will exchange punches with the American in an undercard in the Floyd Mayweather Jr. versus Miguel Cotto title match.

“I will knock Savage down in the third round though it is a six-round affair. I have made up my mind that the fight will not go beyond the third round, because the American is no match for me,” declared Cole.

However, the hitman, who defeated Shakarau Omoniyi in a second round knockout last October in a Universal Boxing Council santioned bout in Lagos, said that the American will not be an easy ride for him.

“I don’t expect the fight to be a stroll in the park for me because Savage is a good fighter too. I have seen him fight about five times and I know he will be a tough challenge for me because he is very tall.

“But I have fought six professional bouts in my career and I have won all, with five of them ending in knockouts. I don’t see why this bout should be different from them because I’m ready to give it my best as I did to my previous opponents,” said Cole.

The Nigerian boxer promised to give his best to the fight due to his plan to gun for the title proper in the nearest future.

“This bout is so important to me because any loss at this time of my career could scuttle my chances of getting a shot at the title. I have been training for this bout for four months since I arrived the country.

“I will make maximum use of my left hook which is my secret weapon when I fight Savage. The left punch has always been my weapon anytime I fight, though I am not a southpaw,” hinted Cole.
