2012 Sports Festival: Team Lagos Target Gold

Coach of Lagos State Basketball team for the 2012 National Sports Festival, Mark Balogun, says their target is to win the sole gold medal available at the tourney to be hosted in Lagos this November.

In a chat with P.M.Sport recently, Balogun said: “Our target is to finish on top of the podium now that Lagos State will be hosting other states during the 2012 National Sports Festival. We finished second behind Rivers State at the last edition in Port Harcourt, tagged Garden Games.”

Balogun,who doubles as the coach of Police Baton Club, who are competing in the DSTV Premier basketball league, said with the calibre of players currently preparing for the tourney at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Rowe Park, Yaba, Lagos, he is confident that Lagos will win gold medal in the basketball event at the festival.

“We are currently putting together a formidable team that will win gold medal in the basketball event at the EKO Sports Festival.

“Losing the gold medal to Rivers State at last year’s edition was painful, but we are poised this time around to win gold for the people of Lagos at our stadium come November,” Balogun said.
