Thugs Disrupt AGN Election

The much-talked about election of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) scheduled to hold in Benin, Edo State, was disrupted by some thugs, who chased delegates out of the election venue with broken bottles and other dangerous weapons.

The election could not hold eventually, but it is likely to be re-scheduled for another venue on a yet-to-be decided date.

NollywoodReel gathered that the show of shame that marred the election started on the evening of the Election Day after all the contestants had read their respective manifestoes. After the readings, a two-hour break was given so all the delegates went outside the hall for refreshments.

According to one of the delegates who wanted to remain anonymous, during the break, “some thugs surfaced from nowhere with some fetish objects in their hands. They entered the hall and placed the objects on the floor, then broke some fresh eggs on the floor too. We were all scared but didn’t take them serious at first.

“When the election was about to commence, the same thugs came with broken bottles, sticks and other dangerous weapons. It was actually a stampede as they started beating everybody. That actually marked the end of the election,” the source told NollywoodReel.
