Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid have deposed Barcelona, clinching the La Liga title tonight at Athletico Bilbao.
Real defeated Bilbao 3-0, despite an early penalty miss by Ronaldo. Ronaldo compensated for the miss later, slotting in a header to make the third goal.
The victory clearly put Real seven points clear, with two matches left to play.
Barcelona, their arch rivals in an earlier match demolished Malaga 4-1, hoping that Real would falter and keep the title race alive.
But it was not to be.
Real Madrid players, the coaching crew and their supporters burst out in a celebratory mood after the final whistle at Bilbao. Real are the new king of Spain.
It was their 32nd league title and their first in four years, with Barcelona winning the past three editions.
