‘We’ll Retain League Shield’


Dolphins’ midfielder, Azeez Shobowale, is emphatic that his side are in pole position to retain the league title.

The domestic champions are third on the log on 35 points after splitting points at the weekend with their closest rivals, Enyimba, in Matchday 23 in Port Harcourt.

Shobowale told SuperSport.com that despite dropping points against the former African champions that they are a strong force to win the league shield back to back.

“Definitely, Dolphins will retain the league crown even though at the moment we’re not on top, the race is still wide open.

“Officiating robbed us of the game against Enyimba, it was terrible and I’m shocked it happened on our ground. But that is nothing to worry about. We split points with Enyimba, we’ve picked point at Ocean Boys and Kaduna United previously. We will still pick more points on our next travels. “But that is not an excuse to drop points at home, we’ll work on the lapses, work harder to ensure we take all our chances.”

After missing out from the CAF Champions League race the former ABS playmaker said they have no excuse not to win the domestic league title.

“We’re focused on the league and on winning it. There is no distraction from the Champions League.
