Larry FC Will Rise Very Soon

Oluwaseyi Abidemi handled Larry Football Club of Agege for 11 years before quitting. Presently, Abidemi is the Chief Coach of Marvelous FC of Mosan Okunola Local Council football team and assistant coach of AS Racine FC.He spoke about his coaching career and the problem facing Larry FC.

Tell us how you started your coaching career?

I started my coaching career when I was in secondary school. After I left school, I formed the defuct Dallas United before joining Larry Football club of Agege.I was with Larry for 11 years before I quit the club.

We were told that Chairman of Larry FC, Olanrewaju Sanyaolu disbanded the team citing lack of funds, how would you react to this?

I feel sad about the disbandment. I’m always in touch with Sanyaolu and he told me that he may bring the club back if there are sponsors that want to partner him. I’m optimistic that Larry will rise again.

In your estimation, do you think Sanyaolu can bring the club back knowing that most of his players are now playing for various amateur clubs in the State?

We are going to face a difficult task of getting these players back because some of them have committed to their present club. It is also possible to bring them back if Sanyaolu can promise the players incentive throughout their stay in the club.

How many laurels did you win with Larry FC?

I won so many laurels for the club. I won the Lagos Oba’s Cup in 2009; I also won the Lagos Speaker Cup in the same year. During my stay in the club, the club reached the quarter final stage four times in the previous Lagos FA Cup. I also gained promotion for them to play in the National Amateur Divison II.

Presently, which club are you handling?

I’m now the Chief Coach of Marvelous Football Club of Mosan Okunola Local council football team and assistant coach at AS Racine. We took part in the just concluded Premier League of the Lagos Junior League and out of 14 teams in the league, Marvelous team took the fourth position.

How do you manage to tinker two different team?

It is not an easy task but I want to thank the management of the two teams that I’m handling for their understanding and patience towards me. I try as much as possible to design my programme in such a way that it won’t clash.

Where do you see yourself in near future?

I see myself handling Enyimba FC and Sunshine FC.I have strong feeling that these clubs would someday ask me to come and handle their teams.
