Consignees Take Delivery Of 402 Overtime Containers

The Nigeria Customs Service says it has so far transferred a total of 1,732 overtime cargoes from both the Apapa and Tin Can Island Ports to Ikorodu Lighter Terminal, an increase of 116 from the previous figure of 1,616 it released last month.

Customs Area Controller in charge of Ikorodu Lighter Terminal, Comptroller Abdulhameed Hassan who disclosed this in a chat with media said work has since commenced fully at the terminal as overtime cargoes belonging to both individual importers and government agencies are being cleared.

Giving a breakdown of the figures, Hassan said that as at the last count, of the about 320 equipments belonging to the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP), 143 has been cleared while 259 overtime cargoes of individual importers and other government agencies have so far been cleared.

In all, a total of 402 containers have been cleared from the terminal.
