Armed robbers struck early this morning at Ijebu-Ode in Ijebu Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria and killed two persons who are yet to be identified.
P.M.NEWS gathered that the incident occured at the Mobalufon roundabout along Sagamu-Benin expressway at about 6.30 this morning.
It was learnt that the robbers were coming from the Ogbere axis and heading towards Sagamu road when they ran into the Quick Response Squad, the State anti-robbery outfit coming from the opposite direction.
In a bid to escape, the robbers who drove in a brown Toyota van which bore no number plate started shooting.
The robbers’ stray bullets hit the two victims who died instantly.
The incident paralysed commercial activities around the area as people ran in different directions for their lives.
The robbers managed to escape while the corpses of the victims were later taken to General Hospital in Ijebu-Ode.
A police source confirmed the incident to P.M.NEWS correspondent on phone today.
