Despite the seemingly invicibility of Dodan Warriors Basketball Club of Lagos in this year’s DSTV-sponsored Nigeria Basketball League, that have seen them beaten all their opponents in the ongoing regular season, Nigerian Customs Basketball Club Guard, Dayo Ogunsola, in this interview, says his team are not scared to play against the Col. Sam Ahmedu’s (retd) – side in the next stage of the league, the Super 8.

How would you describe your team’s performance so far this season?

Well, based on the results we are getting in our matches recently, we have not been performing as expected. But if we are to measure the improvement in team’s understanding and the cohesion in our play, considering the short time we had to prepare for this season, I think we are not doing badly.

Despite losing your last two matches against Dodan Warriors and Royal Hoopers, and couple with your position on the log, that does not guarrantee your team a place in the next stage of the league?

Yes. We may not be within the top four right now but our target is to win our remaining five matches and with that we are sure of qualifying for the Super 8.

Dodan Warriors have been unbeaten so far this season. Will your team want to play them again if you eventually qualify for the Super 8?

We are ready to play any team we are drawn against, and if we are to play Dodan Warriors, we are not scared of them.We have played them twice this season. Though, they were the victors then, but we’ve learnt our lessons from the ties.

Do you see the Warriors winning the league without losing any match?

I don’t see it happening. I know somewhere in the season they will still lose. They are not unbeatable but what has been going well for them is that they started preparing for the season early and the fact that they played some competitive games before the league started. It helped their players to understanding themselves and also gave them an edge ahead of the other teams.

How would you describe the league so far this season and which of the teams have really surprised you?

Sincerely, there have been no much improvement in the league this season. It’s still the same level of play and there are no changes in the organisation of the league to what obtained in the country before I left to play professionally in Jordan, Mali and Liberia. Personally, the team that have impressed me this season are Comets club.
