Tension Brews In Nigeria's Oil-Rich City Over Sack Of 200

Tension is brewing in the oil-rich Asari-Toru local Government Council in Rivers State as the Chairman the council, Mr. Ojukaye Flag Amachree, has approved the termination of the appointments of over 200 workers in the council.

The Head of Local Government (HLG) Mr. Daniel Iruene disclosed this during a meeting with the affected workers in his office.

He said, the sacked workers who were mainly from the Health Department that never qualified to be employed as staff of the council.

Mr. Iruene alleged that the affected staff were not nominated by the council to the Rivers State College of Health Science and Technology and as such were not employees of the council.
