Five Namibian youngsters now have an opportunity to broaden their tennis skills as they embarked on tour of Spain.

Current top U-10 Namibian player Oliver Diggle, Tevin Tait, Katu Jacobs, Denise Murorua and Rhomee Beukes are all part of the travelling party.

Katu is the brother of Sedi and Tuki Jacobs, who have already been making their mark on the international junior tennis circuit.

Murorua represented Namibia in the African Zonal Championships earlier this year and Beukes is a former Junior Tennis Initiative champion from Rehoboth. The tour is considered an important building block to take the talented players from where they are to where they want to be.

“The objective of this tour to Spain is to ignite a bigger vision and dream in Namibian tennis players and give them the necessary exposure to achieve their tennis and life goals,” said Elizma Nortje, Director and Head Coach of Pro Tennis Academy.

Nortje’s experience of being a former professional tennis player and her ties with international players and coaches abroad enabled her to organise the tour.

In Spain, the players are expected to be exposed to the Map4Tennis programme, a tailor-made initiative for long term development offered by the Pro Tennis Academy.
