Secretary General of Weightlifting Federation of Nigeria, WFN, Uche Onwume, has revealed that only two lifters among the seven who are currently at Owerri camp will be selected to fly the country’s flag at the London 2012 Olympics later in the year.

The weightlifting scribe told P.M.Sports, that even the coaching crew cannot say at the moment who among the seven lifters will make it to the Olympics, adding that their selection will depend on their perfomances in camp.

“The lifters are currently in camp in Owerri, where they are preparing for the London Olympic Games. Seven of them are in camp at the moment working very hard and struggling to grab the two slots that will represent the country at the games,” said Onwume.

She added: “No one can say at the moment who among the seven lifters can make either the final phase of the camping programme or the Olympics proper. It is their performance at the camp that will determine who makes it to the games because we want to pick the best to represent the country.”

The seven lifters in camp were retained from the fifteen that represented the country at the just concluded African Weightlifting Championship in Kenya.
