The Assembly took the interim action after conclusion of debate on a protest letter sent to the House by the Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area, Francis Babatunde Oke, requesting the Assembly to restrain the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development from carrying out the demolition of the market.

The petitioner also wants the Assembly to stop the Ministry of Transportation from further harassing traders in the market under the pretence that they were doing businesses on a metro line

Speaker Adeyemi Ikuforiji directed the two ministries to stop action on the demolition of the market pending the conclusion of the committees’ investigation.
