Haye Targets Klitschko Showdown

David Haye says he will fight Vitali Klitschko this year once he has dealt with Dereck Chisora in their grudge match in July.

The two controversial British heavyweights will step into the ring at West Ham’s Upton Park ground later this year to settle a feud which started following a brawl between the pair after Chisora had lost to Klitschko.

Haye had brought an end to his time in the ring last October but was constantly linked with a fight against Vitali Klitschko, who was left upset by Haye’s conduct in the build-up to his clash with his brother Wladimir.

However, having failed to get a deal agreed with the Klitschko’s, Haye will now take on Chisora in his comeback.

With Wladimir having stirred up the Hayemaker by branding his bout with his compatriot a “freak show”, Haye has once again talked up a showdown with one of the brothers, claiming he expects it to go ahead after he has beaten Chisora.

“That fight will happen, but in September at the earliest,” Haye told the Telegraph.

“If it could have been agreed already I wouldn’t be fighting Chisora. I have always been looking for that fight against the Klitschkos.

“That’s the one thing I’ve got left to do – to unify the titles.”

Haye lost his WBA heavyweight championship to Wladimir Klitschko in Hamburg last summer but blamed a broken toe for his poor showing in the unification showdown.
